Acton Cooperative School staff and parents have been “working together to make learning fun” since 1957.
The Acton Coop has an extraordinary staff of highly experienced teachers and caregivers. We take great pride in our highly trained teachers and very low staff turnover. All of our teachers are certified in Early Childhood Education, have completed first aid and CPR courses, and are parents themselves. In addition, all of our teachers have been with us for many years, most for more than 10 years.
We offer classes for children ages 2 years 9 months through pre-kindergarten, as well as a parent-and-toddler class. Our popular Stay-and-Play, Lunch Bunch, and Early Morning Drop-Off programs offer families additional flexibility outside of regular classroom hours.
The Coop is ideally placed within the small community of West Acton Village, which provides many resources. Classes enjoy the up-to-date playground on site and take walking field trips to local businesses. The School operates in the West Acton Baptist Church building under a license issued by the Department of Early Education and Care. The school is not affiliated with the church.
The best way to find out if the Acton Cooperative School is right for your family is to see for yourself!
We encourage all prospective families to call the school to schedule a personal tour. Children are welcome and encouraged to visit the school with you.
Our Families Say:
"The Acton Coop allowed us the opportunity to participate in the classroom with our son and daughter. Not only did we get the chance to get to know the wonderful teachers that much better, but we got to know all of our children’s classmates and the other parents too. We can’t imagine having had a better pre-school experience than the one which Joan and all of the teachers at the Coop provided!"
"We've all been thrilled with our first year at Acton Coop. The community has been so warm and welcoming, we love the level of parent involvement, and the staff has made our daughter's transition to school smooth and easy. She loves her friends and teachers, and she asks to go to school every day -- even on weekends!"
"Our time at Acton Cooperative School was a wonderful experience for our entire family. This school offers a friendly, nurturing environment that focuses on fostering friendships, encouraging exploration and teaching children basic social skills--listening, sharing and following directions. We were always very impressed with the friendly and experienced staff, from Director on down."
"I felt as if the teachers took care of each of my girls as if they were their own. My girls, 5th grade and 1st grade, still talk about how much they loved the Coop."
